November 2017 — From the Commander

My Fellow Comrades,

The month of November is here and I want to start by remembering all Combat Veterans, past and present, in the observance of Veterans Day. November 11th we will lower and raise the flag at 11:00 am and then celebrate the day by grilling hot dogs for all veterans and their loved ones who attend. This month we will meet to vote on adopting new by-laws for the Post. I urge all of you to attend and make your views known during the meeting where it is appropriate for discussion.

Next I want to thank all of you who have helped in making the Hall Rentals a success. Thanks for all the extra hours and hard work that went into replacing ceiling tiles, getting the floor cleaned, moped and waxed, and replacing light bulbs. I also want to send a salute out to our Members who contributed in making the Poker Run for Kathy Vian a success.

Important dates to remember this month include 4 Nov-District Meeting Here atPost 9265, 5 Nov. daylight savings time ends,11 Nov. Veterans Day, 16-19 Nov. the Southern Conference in Biloxi, MS, and 23 Nov. Thanksgiving.

Again I ask that we put special emphasis on recruiting new Members, and I urge all of us to get back into the Community outreach programs. Thank you for your Support and all that you have done for our Post, Our Community and our Country.

God Bless America

CAPT Kenneth Novotny, USN Ret.,

Commander, VFW Post 9265

2017- 2018

Whether you enjoy riding your own bike, riding with others or just being around others who enjoy riding, come join our riders group.

Sometimes we get together for breakfast and ride afterwards and sometimes we ride somewhere and have lunch, either way we have fun and comradery with people who share or enjoyment of riding.

Did you know that Oklahoma has its very own Vietnam Memorial Wall?

Woodring Airport in Enid is home this memorial. It was one of the original traveling walls and was purchased and is on permanent display at the airport. A museum is also being established with it and should be open in a month or two. It is well worth the short ride or drive to visit.

The riders group took a ride to Enid to visit this memorial with a stop in Okarche for some Eischen's chicken.
